    Night 4: Shounen

Post by Lucid on Mon Apr 11, 2011 7:02 pm

While walking around the area it suddenly starts to snow. The temperature has been dropping accordingly through the day. But snowing during this month strikes you weird.
The town is silent, few people walk here and there. You decide to take a break in the local park.

Even though it's supposed to be a park the place seems rather lifeless. Maybe there's a reason for that?
You observe the nearby pond and its reflection. That's when you see somebody watching the pond as well. She looks like a child.

Assassin talks to you while still remaining in spirit form.
Something isn't right. She doesn't have any presence.

After telling his servant to watch over him, Masato walks toward the pond and watches over it. He keeps a certain distance with the young girl.

The man breaks the silence of the night:
''Is it not late to be standing here? As peaceful as the night may seem, I have heard it is not safe around here. Not to mention it's starting to get cold.''
And he pauses for an instant, still looking at the pond.
''Although, I admit I do enjoy standing, looking at the water myself''
He said that last sentence in a whisper, more to himself than anyone else.

All this time, he's looking at the pond, still ready to react if anything shall happen, his crpssbow ready, hidden in his cloak. Assassin is standing beside him, in spirit form, looking at the girl.

The girl doesn't look at you but replies with a calm tone.
Shouldn't you be more worried about other masters rather than harrassing a young lady like me? You don't stench of blood. I judge you haven't clashed against other masters yet.
    A brief pause.

That's wise. With a servant like her you should focus on gathering information first.

Masato's first reaction is to take a step back from the girl. If she knows that much, maybe she is is a master herself.
He looks at her with a curious expression.

"That young lady caught my attention for a certain reason, my intention was in no way to harass her. May I ask you who you are, and what is your involvement is this?"

The girl who was sitting by the pond finally stood up and looked at Masato, as if finally acknowledging his presence.
I would love to converse more about oneself. But sadly I can't go against my restrictions.

A little smirk appears on her face and she lets out a giggle.
But since you're so cute I'll allow you one question before I declare what I came here for. Pick carefully, we stand upon the precipice of change.

Masato looks at the pond for an instant, thinking. He turns back to the young girl, looking straight in her eyes.

"There is so much to ask, knowing nothing about you. You seem to know a lot, but what puzzles me the most is your identity. According to my servant, you have no presence. If there is one thing I want know, that would be about you. Please tell me what you can about yourself"

    He smiles, and adds:

"My name is Masato...if you didn't already know"

Assassin is still standing beside her master, in spirit form. She looks around the park for anything unusual, still keeping an eye on the girl conversing with her master. The most dangerous people are those who are unpredictable, and this young one seems full of mysteries.

    The girls seems dissatisfied.
Out of all the things you could have asked you asked.
    She lets out a sigh.

If you fear that I am a participant in this war that is not fully incorrect. However my performance is nothing to worry about for now. Informing more than that is problematic for someone who doesn't exist. I can't reveal more than oneself would like to.

She points out at the bench Masato was sitting on before.
I left a message for you. Seems like out of all the masters you were drawn to this park this night. Fate or chance, I only believe in one.

Her tone seems more serious as she says her last words.
Without an end, there can be no peace. It gets no easier. Your struggles have only just begun.
She loses all interest of Masato and sits down next to the pond again.

Seeing as her master is simply staring at the pond again for no apparent reason, Assassin decides to go ahead and check the bench herself.

There's a letter taped on the bottom of the bench. There's nothing else that catches her attention.

The girl lets out a yawn and stretches her arms.
    Maybe we'll see another time.
Without looking at Masato she says those final words.

She stands up and takes a step forward. As if it's the most natural thing for her, she starts to walk on the water towards the middle of the pond.

"Farewell", he says, as Assassin materializes and brings the letter to him.
He thanks her and opens it.

You take a look at the letter, and sight at the pond.
    There's nothing there anymore.

    Spoiler:
    Event End
The letter will be posted on a separate thread on your char section.
